Jacob Landrum, born in California, is a graduate guitar student at UNT. As a jazz guitarist, Landrum has studied with acclaimed professionals such as Ron Eschete, Mike Higgins, and Davy Mooney. After performing and recording in Southern California during his undergraduate studies at Cal State Fullerton, he moved to Denton, Texas to receive his Masters degree in hopes of teaching at the University level.

Landrum’s career, now entering its second decade, encompasses soulful chord-melody solo guitar playing, high level improvisation, and well written original music, as well as a thorough homage to the Great American Standards. Landrum is heavily influenced by the music of Bill Evans, Wes Montgomery, and Dexter Gordon. His biggest asset is variety, however, as he also composes and performs his own music, having made a living playing guitar and singing before transitioning to the pedagogical world. Having recognized teaching as his true passion, Landrum currently offers affordable prices for individual instruction for students of all ages and skill levels.

Diverse in range of music, Landrum’s pop and rock music can be found on Spotify and YouTube, and before leaving California he could be heard playing in straight-ahead jazz combos in restaurants, bars, and cafes all over the Los Angeles area. Landrum now teaches and studies full time, invigorated by the love of inspiring and educating others, and performs with the UNT 2 o'clock band. His latest solo project "Paralysis" can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, and YouTube.
